Medhat E. Allam, M.D., F.A.C.S.

Chief Surgeon

Dr. Allam graduated from the University of Alexandria, School of Medicine in 1984.  After completing his surgical residency at  Brookdale University Hospital in 1996, he settled in Southampton, New York where he established a general surgical practice with a specialty in advanced laparoscopy.

Dr. Allam has published many articles on the topic of Laparoscopic and Minimally Invasive Surgery in  prestigious journals including Archives of Surgery, SLS, and others. Some of the articles introduced new techniques in laparoscopic colon and stomach surgeries.

In 1997, Dr. Allam formed a surgical team that would travel to third world countries to provide free treatment for the poor.  This team has been developed into a not-for-profit organization that, to date, has traveled to six third-world countries including Haiti, Brazil and Viet Nam providing free surgical care in remote areas.

In June,2001, Dr. Allam established the Hamptons Center for Bariatric Surgery .  His program has been described as   " A model for other hospitals to follow" by an impartial reviewer.  The Hamptons Center for Bariatric Surgery's quality of care and statistics were found to exceed the standards of care published by major centers in the USA.

In 1965, after completing his college education at the University of Notre Dame, Dr. Petrillo joined the New Jersey College of Medicine to graduate in 1969.   In 1976, he completed his surgical residency at Down State University.

In 1976, Dr. Petrillo moved back to his home town of Southampton and joined other local prominent surgeons in the practice of general surgery.  He progressed in his career to become the Chief of Surgery at Southampton Hospital and served in that capacity from 1988- 1993.

Dr. Petrillo is a member of the American College of Surgeons and the Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons.  He has been listed in the Castle Connolly's Best Doctors in New York, Metropolitan Area.
