If you do not consume enough protein you may experience hair loss, slow wound healing and you may lose lean muscle tissue. Particularly during the first month after surgery you will not be able to consume enough protein through foods alone. Any type of protein supplement that is low in carbohydrate (sugar free) Try to purchase a protein supplement that contains the most amount of protein in the smallest volume. Most people should try to consume between 70-90 grams of protein per day. We would suggest that you speak with a Registered Dietitian or your physician regarding you particular needs.
